Weekly Goal(s): Identify verbs, verb phrases, direct & indirect objects, and transitive, intransitive verbs while continuing to recognize and correctly label prepositions and prepositional phrases


Weekly Goal(s): Students will analyze word choice and characterization and discuss how it affects the plot of a story. Students will also analyze irony and how the different types of irony affect the plot of a story. Students will collect relevant evidence for both sides of an issue in order to state a claim for an argumentative essay.

  1. Everyone is not your friend video – write one paragraph on how this video refers to Charlie’s situation
  2. Read Progress Report 10 (pg. 33-36) and annotate using the annotation guide.
  3. Each student will be given ONE post-it note to track Charlie’s changes: pink = emotional, yellow = intellectual, green = social.
  4. Arrange groups, one color of each, and add documented changes to evidence chart for Progress Report 10.
  5. Students will work on the rest of the evidence chart individually
