Welcome to The Ridge! I hope you had a wonderful summer. I am looking forward to a fantastic year! I have very high expectations for all my students.

The goal in my classroom is for every student to be a successful, respectful, self-motivated, and responsible learner who sets and reaches his/her academic goals daily.

We will read THREE novels assigned by the parish, some short stories, supplemental texts, and much more.

Students are ENCOURAGED to buy their own copy of the required novels for making annotations.

  • Hatchet by Gary Paulsen  (We will begin reading this one ASAP!)

  • Out of the Dust by Karen Hesse (Begin reading in approximately in November)  November 15th!!!

  • If Stones Could Speak: Unlocking the secrets of Stonehenge by National Geographic/Marc Aronson( Begin reading approximately in February)

  • You may also choose to buy your child’s copy from Books A Million or Amazon.

We will read, analyze, and develop a more advanced understanding and interpretation of a variety of literary sources, study figurative language,

learn literary elements, and develop test taking skills and further comprehension.  The calendar for each nine weeks will be posted in Google Classroom.

(*Note: It is subject to change at any point.)

Grading System

Students are graded in variety of methods. Potential graded assignments are:
